Teaching Psychology Resources

The resourses on this page (and on the Dual Credit Resources page) are offered to those teaching psychology in high school settings. I know that despite the exponential increase in Psychology among high school students in recent years there is there is little or no curriculum development or delivery support available to those teaching psychology at the high school level. I am hoping, with this site, the Psychology For Everyday Life Newsletter, and by connecting and collaborating with those of you who are teaching high school Psychology to begin to address this shortfall. So, look around and see if you find things that interest you or that you might find useful in your classes or in your preparations for teaching Psychology and, if you have any thoughts to share or questions to ask please pass them along (mike.boyes@buildingyouridentity.com).

Bring a Psychologist to Class

Engaging with students who are starting to explore psychology is something I have enjoyed throughout my teaching career and something I will not stop doing and to that end, if it would be of interest to you, I am ready and able to come into one of your psychology classes (in person or via Zoom) and talk with you and your students about almost any psychology topic you and they are interested in. I can also talk about the dual credit (school/university) Psychology For Everyday Life course and/or I can talk about post secondary studies in general or post-secondary psychology courses or possible careers in psychology. If this is of interest to you, get in touch and we can chat about possibilities (mike.boyes@buildingyouridentity.com).

The Psychology Weekly Updates Blog

I want to tell you about a wonderful psychology teaching resource that is available to you online at no cost. I am a co-author of an introductory psychology textbook, Psychology Around Us, 4th Canadian Edition, published by Wiley Canada (don’t worry I am not marketing the book here!). In relation to this textbook and other Wiley books aimed at Child Development, Adult Development and Aging, Clinical Psychology, Social Psychology, and Health Psychology, I manage and post three new posts a week to a site called Weekly Psychology Updates. Essentially it is blog for students taking introductory or general survey psychology courses, their teachers, and those interested in psychology. There are currently over 960 posts on the site. Use the link just below to download a more detailed description of how I construct my posts for the site and some suggestions of ways you might use the site in your psychology classes with your students. If you have any questions, comments or thoughts about how you can use this reource please email me (mike.boyes@psychologyforeverydaylife.com).
